Patriots Trade for Titans LB Akeem Ayers

It may not be Vincent Jackson, but hey, it’s a start. The New England Patriots sent a sixth round pick to the Tennessee Titans on Tuesday  in exchange for linebacker Akeem Ayers and a seventh round selection in the NFL draft. The deal is pending a physical.

If the Playoffs Started Today – NFL Week 7

After seven weeks, both conferences have new leaders. Multiple division leaders are starting to slip, while other teams are responding by making a move in the standings. Defending champion Seattle lost their second straight game, getting upset by special teams trickery in St Louis. The Jaguars finally got a win, leaving Oakland as the lone […]

If the Playoffs Started Today – NFL Week 6

Six weeks into the season, there are still many teams that could be considered champion material. And thanks to injuries and underperforming, many are also fighting for draft positioning. Five teams have a single loss on their record, and Cincinnati has a loss and tie. Oakland and Jacksonville continue to be dream opponents for teams […]

Halftime Report: Patriots Up 20-3 on Bengals as Brady Surpasses 50,000 Yards

“Brady! Brady! Brady!” That chant by the home crowd at Gillette Stadium tells you all you need to know about the first half of the Sunday Night Football contest between the New England Patriots and the Cincinnati Bengals. After getting trampled last Monday night by the Kansas City Chiefs, the Patriots have been a completely […]

Patriots Preview: Why I Wish New England Wasn’t Playing the Bengals in Prime Time (Or At All, Really)

Normally when the New England Patriots play in prime time, I get all revved up for a big game on the national stage.Living in New York City, it means I get to watch the game in the quiet of my own apartment, which I can shatter with epithets and flying objects or (more ideally) overwrought […]

Week 3 Preview: Raiders at Patriots, Sept. 21, 2014

After a solid performance in Minnesota last week, the Patriots will try to continue their momentum against the woeful Oakland Raiders. The Pats defense had no problem dominating veteran quarterback Matt Cassel, and they have a chance to do the exact same to Raiders rookie Derrick Carr on Sunday. Here’s what we’ll be watching for […]

Tom Brady Reveals Resume, Old Boss Recalls QB as ‘Hardest Worker’

Yesterday, Tom Brady uploaded his resumé onto Facebook and, as expected, the internet blew-up.  His resume included several summer gigs at golf courses, a job building custom houses, and an internship at Merrill Lynch.  Only under the ‘Additional’ section does Brady mention his football accolades, which is humble to say the least. Today, TMZ Sports, […]

Week 2 Film Review: Patriots at Vikings

Before focus shifts to this Sunday’s match-up with the Raiders, let’s take a look back at the Patriots performance in Minnesota. As will be the case throughout the season, I’ve reviewed the All-22 footage and given each players a grade on a +/- scale. Mediocre Offense The Patriots scored just 16 “true” offensive points on […]

Why Watch the Red Sox? For the Cuban Missile Rusney Castillo

Mercifully, the New England Patriots are in the win column, and the 2014 season for the Boston Red Sox is in its final weeks. Unfortunately, the Patriots only play once a week (hopefully more like Week 2 than Week 1), and there still isn’t any Celtics basketball or Bruins hockey to fill the space between each Sunday. […]

Week 2 Preview: Patriots at Vikings, Sept. 14, 2014

Panic in the streets. Last place. No offensive line. Overrated defense. Time for everyone to take a deep breath. The Patriots enter this weekends game in Minnesota with a chance to quell some of the panic going on in New England. Sometimes, it must be nice being a fan of a mediocre team, where every […]

Adrian Peterson Indicted for Injuring Child, Deactivated vs. Patriots

Well, the New England Patriots’ defensive game plan just got a whole lot simpler. Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was indicted in Texas on Friday for reckless or negligent injury to a child, and has a warrant out for his arrest. As a result, the Vikings have deactivated him for Sunday’s game against the Patriots. […]

Week 1 Film Review: Patriots at Dolphins

Throughout the season I’ll be reviewing the each Patriot’s game via the All-22 film. My goal is to provide some insightful analysis about what went right and what went wrong, without the emotion of a reactionary Sunday or Monday post-game article. I’ll be tracking players throughout the season on a +/- scale. A plus is […]

Rough Second Half Costs Patriots in 33-20 Loss in Miami

The Patriots turned around a rough start to take a two-possession lead at the half, but couldn’t do a thing from there as they lost their first game of the season, 33-20, in Miami. The Patriots started on a bad note, going three and out on the opening drive. On top of that, Ryan Allen’s […]

Week 1 Preview: Patriots at Dolphins, Sept. 7, 2014

The wait is finally over. The longest off-season in professional sports is finished, and meaningful NFL football is finally upon us. The Patriots enter Miami as 5 point favorites on Sunday, and look to avenge last season’s 24-20 loss in Week 15. Here’s what we’ll be watching for Sunday at 1:00 PM. Defense, Defense, Defense […]

Where, Oh Where Can My Brady Be? Patriots QB Misses Practice with Calf Injury

Where, oh where can my Brady be? That may not be exactly how the Pearl Jam song goes, but it’s definitely the tune New England Patriots fans are singing after Tom Brady missed Thursday’s practice with what is being reported as a calf injury. Those same reports indicate that the injury isn’t serious enough to […]
