For those of you reserving a place for Vince Wilfork to make a stirring return to the New England Patriots, you’ll have to find a different 325-pound defensive lineman to fill that hole in your heart. Patriots Re-Sign Devin McCourty to 5 year, $47.5 million Deal

The Patriots re-signed starting free safety Devin McCourty to a five year, $47.5 million contract on Sunday night. The move will keep the star safety with New England through the 2019 season. The $28.5 million of guaranteed money puts McCourty at the high end of the market. The Patriots have to be happy about their […]

Vince Wilfork announced on Thursday that he had been informed by the Patriots that they would not be picking up the two year option in his contract. The move will make Wilfork, an 11-year veteran, a free agent to sign with any team. The move will save New England $8 million in salary cap space.

Notes and Observations, Super Bowl XLIX: Patriots are Champions Again!

Super Bowl XLIX lived up to the hype and then some. Sunday night saw the match-up of the two best teams in the NFL go down to the wire to decide the champion. Every snap counted and every second felt like an eternity, which is exactly how the Super Bowl is supposed to be. As […]

Forget Deflate-Gate: Let’s Look Back to the Actual AFC Championship Game…

The past two seasons we have grown accustomed to watching the Patriots blowout their divisional round opponent only to lose in the AFC Championship game. This year they changed things up for the better. Last week we all sat on the edge of our seats while the Patriots erased two 14-point deficits on route to […]

Patriots Pass Rush Faces Tough Task with Luck

One area that the Patriots struggled with Saturday night against Baltimore that will need to be improved upon for Sunday’s AFC Championship game against the Colts is their pass rush. For most of the night against the Ravens, their pass rush was non-existent and Joe Flacco had plenty of time to find open receivers. In […]

Containing Justin Forsett Will be Key for Patriots

One of the surprises of the NFL season was the emergence of Ravens running back Justin Forsett. Forsett, who had bounced around several teams before landing in Baltimore, saw his chance early in the season in the aftermath of the Ray Rice domestic violence situation. Forsett seized the moment, running for 1,266 yards and eight touchdowns. […]

Woof. Well you know what they say, a win is a win and Sunday’s win over the Jets clinched a first round bye for the Patriots for the fifth consecutive year. A nice fun fact is the Patriots are the first team in NFL history to clinch a first round bye for five consecutive seasons. […]

Notes and Observations Week 15: Patriots Blow Out Dolphins 41-13; Clinch AFC East

It never gets old winning the AFC East. At the start of every year, we have to listen to all the “experts” talk about how the Bills, Dolphins, and Jets are all primed to challenge the Patriots for the division crown. Granted the Bills actually have an impressive defense, and if they only had a […]

Another week goes by and another division leader falls at the hands of the New England Patriots. After the beginning of the season if you told most people the Patriots would come out of their current six-game stretch with a 3-3 record, most people would have taken that as a plus. Fast forward to the […]

Notes and Observations, Week 9: Patriots Make a Statement in Dominant 43-21 Win Over Broncos

This was the game everyone had marked on their calendars. There’s the obvious Tom Brady vs. Peyton Manning rivalry, but this was more than that. Sunday was a chance to show everyone how good the Patriots truly are, and they did not disappoint. While Tom Brady has put together an impressive five game stretch of […]

Akeem Ayers Contributing Early On With Patriots

When the Patriots acquired Akeem Ayers prior to the trading deadline, they were getting a player that had shown pass rush prowess in 2012 but had disappointed in 2013 and early 2014. He had fallen out of favor with the Tennessee defensive coaches and the Patriots hoped a fresh start would help Ayers find his […]

Slowing Down League’s Best Offense No Easy Task For Patriots

When the Broncos play the Patriots at Gillette Stadium on Sunday, they will bring with them one of the NFL’s best offenses. They set records last year and have picked up right where they left off ranking first in points per game, tied for first in touchdowns scored, third in passing yards, and sixth in […]

It may not be Vincent Jackson, but hey, it’s a start. The New England Patriots sent a sixth round pick to the Tennessee Titans on Tuesday  in exchange for linebacker Akeem Ayers and a seventh round selection in the NFL draft. The deal is pending a physical.
