According to SI’s Jon Heyman, the Red Sox have agreed on a trade with the Padres involving first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, and the necessary parameters are in place for a contract extension, though no deal is in place.
Gonzalez will be introduced as a Red Sox on Monday at a press conference. No official report on who Boston is sending to San Diego, but the rumor mill has been turning all weekend with the names of Casey Kelly, Anthony Rizzo, and Reymond Fuentes.
Even though no deal for an extension is in place, the word is that Boston is looking to make it worth around $23 million per year for 7 years.
