Connelly’s Top Ten: Boston Teams Continue To Lose

1. Bruins:

* As pointed out by many – yet another closeout game that the Bruins lose
* I have never seen a team miss the net as much as the Bruins
* Jagr, Seguin and Marchand 0-63 on shots
* Lucic can skate when he wants to – still the turnovers though
* When was the last time Seguin beat someone one on one – he is no Rick Middleton
* Jagr is a MINUS 3

2. Red Sox:

* Red Sox were 3-34 this weekend with men in scoring position
* Lester and Buchholz 11-0 on May 13th
* Buchholz is on pace for 254 innings, which isn’t top 50 in Red Sox history
* Sox on pace for 94 wins
* 24% of the season is over
* Ellsbury on pace for 17 triples, which would be the most since 1929 when Russ Scarrit had 17

3. Patriots – new receivers scoring:

* Last three years Aaron Dobson: scored 13% of his receptions (20 TD / 150 receptions)
* Josh Boyce scored 13% of his receptions (22 touchdowns / 161 receptions)
* TJ Moe scored 6% of his receptions (11 td on 186 receptions)

4. Around the MLB:

* Beckett is 0-4 with 5.13 ERA – keep looking for the snitch dumb ass
* LA Dodgers / LA Angels are 29-44
* Joba Chamberlain giving Mariano Rivera attitude – cut Jethro
* Mariano Rivera is 14 for 14 in save opportunities
* Game time for three well pitched games: Lester 8.5 innings 1 hitter – 2:46 / Miller from St. Louis one hitter 2:36 / Wainwright 2 hitter 2:40
* Francona is Coach of the Year right now with Cleveland in first place
* 1-5 Strasburg is the anti-Ankiel

5. Inflation at the TPC:

When Tiger Woods won in 2001, the purse was $6,000,000 (winner 1,080,000). Twelve years later, the purse was $9,500,000 – 58% increase (winner $1,710,000 – 58% increase)

6. Larry Bird:

Bird’s field goal attempts went down each year at Indiana State: Sophomore 24.6 /Junior 24.0 / Senior 20.8

7. Amazing Stats:

Jim Rice had 30 triples over a two year period (1977-1978)

8. Old School:

Underrated player – Jim Loscutoff? In the Celtics first championship run in 1957 the tough guy averaged 10.4 rebounds / 10.6 points

9. Just a Little Bit Outside:

According to Forbes Magazine, the most expensive restaurant in Boston is L’Espalier with a $75 price fixed meal (Defrisco’s will give them a run for the money)

10. Randomocity:

* Manchester City has spent 1 billion on players lost in the FA Cup to Wigwam who has spent $30 million (and will be relegated potentially to the lower league this year)
* Would you trade Tyler Seguin for PK Subban?
* This is Paul Pierce’s longest streak without a turnover
* Copley Plaza has the best ballroom in the city
* What would hurt more – Knicks winning or Miami?
* Should Gronk change his number to number 7 in honor of JD?

  1. Beckett struggling and Gonzalez blamed Fenway for his power outage.

Bruins had plane problems and stayed in Toronto last night. Not sure what that means but it doesn’t help.

What’s the pace for Dempster and gopher balls? 30?

Francona doing a whale of a job but don’t forget about Girardi with the Yankees, Yost in KC, and Washington in Texas.

  2. Francona “Coach of the Year” is that poking fun at him? In his book they talk about (several times) how crazy it drives him to be called “Coach” and not “Manager”
