The Red Sox lost in horrific fashion, but still managed to clinch the AL East with Toronto's loss to the Orioles. Connelly’s Top Ten: Patriots Will go 3-0, Red Sox March Toward 100

Last chance to sign up for Franklin Park Zoo race Run Wild Sunday 8:30 AM – sign ups end at 11:00 pm Friday

1. Patriots:

* Please don’t play Gronk for four more weeks or after your second loss whatever comes last
* Patriots have been outplayed at almost every position in both games (maybe not secondary) and are 2-0
* There is no one on the Patriots roster right now worthy to even run patterns in front of Revis
* If Vincent Jackson doesn’t score, Patriots win 20-13
* No Woodhead, Slater, Vereen, Welker, Gronk, Hernandez, or Lloyd this weekend
* Who’s Dennard going to sucker this week?

2. Red Sox:

* Jackie Bradley after 82 at bats and 31 games had only his second multiple hit game (trade him)
* Victorino gets the worst jumps on balls in center
* The Red Sox and Dr. Charles strike out again – roasting Mariano Rivera the other night during his Fenway tribute was out of line (The post Boston Marathon and Jeff Bauman presentations were terrible – long narratives)
* Lackey has not intentionally walked anyone this year or committed a balk

3. Around the NFL:

* Love the unusual in-season trade of Trent Richardson to Colts (how about Brandon Spikes and a second round pick right now for Larry Fitzgerald)
* Over-under in Jets – Bills game is 39 – I say you even go under on that
* Cleveland spread went from 3 point underdogs to 6.5 after Richardson trade

4. Around College Football:

* I like UMass getting 36 points against Vanderbilt / I like Army getting 4 against Wake Forest / I like Michigan giving 18 to U Conn / I like Michigan State getting 6.5 from ND / SMU getting 28 against Texas A&M
* Lock of week – Over Indiana- Missouri 70

5. Around MLB:

* Don’t tell me that wildcard isn’t a great idea with twelve teams still in the mix with two weeks to go
* Davey Johnson at Washington has his team 10 games over .500 – he has been in the top three in Manager of the Year seven times in his career
* Didn’t realize the Chris Johnson going for the batting title in the National League was the son of Red Sox first base coach Ron Johnson, who the Red Sox threw a bone drafting his kid in the 37th round

6. Ridley vs. BJGE ball security with the Patriots:

Ridley – 402 carries / 6 fumbles
BJGE – 510 carries / 0 fumbles

One step further – top six Patriot running back fumblers:

1. Sam Cunningham – 49
2. Tony Collins – 42
3. Larry Garron – 37
4. Jim Nance – 30
5. Mack Herron – 26
6. Kevin Faulk -25

7. Sports Illustrated ranked the top 100 NBA players:

* Celtics had one player Rondo 26th – in 1985 they probably had five of the top 25 players in Bird, McHale, Johnson, Ainge, Parish

8. Old School:

Since 2000, 37 high school football players have died. In October of 1937, Bridgeport player Joseph Callahan caught a last second TD pass to lead his team to victory. Little did he know that an injury suffered in the first quarter would later kill him

9. Just a Little Bit Outside:

Timeline of Tallest Buildings in Boston from Wikipedia

* Old State House – 65 feet (1713-1745)
* Old North Church – 175 feet (1745-1810)
* Park Street Church – 217 feet (1810-1867)
* Church of Covenant – 236 feet (1867-1915)
* Custom House – 496 feet (1915-1964)
* Prudential Tower – 749 feet (1964-1976)
* Hancock Place – 790 feet (1976-Present)

10. Randomocity:

* If you are a runner at all – the book Born to Run is beautifully written
* Great autumn so far
* Seems so early for Bruins / Sullinger talk has been quiet
* Dee Brown received $5,000 from the town of Wellesley, which went to the attorney

  1. why did dee brown recieve $5k, was it the incident when the police threw him on the ground back in ’89 or 90?

    REPLY – MPC – Yes – I should have specified the date – now that you questioned it I second guessing myself it might have been $10m – they were going to donate it but they ended up paying the attorney
