Toucher and Rich Hang Up on Rick Pitino: ‘You Stink. You Ruined the Celtics.’

Rick Pitino

Toucher and Rich have dominated the morning time slot on sports radio, specifically the target demographic (men 25-54), for years now doing the same thing: hilarious bits mixed in with opinionated sports takes.

Their interview with former Celtics coach Rick Pitino Thursday morning sort of qualified as both:

Fred: We are joined by Rick Pitino, former coach of the Celtics, current coach of the Louisville Cardinals who won the national championship. Rick Pitino, hello!

Pitino: Morning, guys.

Fred: You stink. You ruined the Celtics.

I’ve seen mixed reactions about this, and I understand both sides. Toucher was clearly disrespectful to Rick Pitino. But, in the same breath, why does he have to be respectful to Pitino? Toucher isn’t from Boston, wasn’t here when Pitino was coach, and hates the NBA, so why is he offering an opinion about it? The other side would say: Well, you don’t have to be from Boston to know Pitino really held down the Celtics for years and years.

What do you guys think?
