Connelly’s Top Ten: Ref Throws Up After Eating Flag

Tom Brady

1. Refs:

* Not reason they lost game but the lack of fortitude and conviction should cost official a week’s pay – national television that’s his contribution to the game
* Brady and Mallett get fined for following them off the field
* No problem extending Carolina’s winning drive with penalty on McCourty
* At worst it is illegal contact more than 5 yards down the field

2. Brady:

* High Fiving with his elbow and not hand – is that thing broken – this is five weeks later?
* Only two games out of ten with QB rating over 100%

3. Offense:

* O Line stinks – Dante’s Peaked? Brady on the ground or forced to dump the ball
* Some good drives but there is zero creativity – no screens with pressure
* Luke Kuechly playing with more of a chip on his shoulder
* Aaron Dobson shouldn’t be able to chirp the whole game when he’s leading the league in drops
* This Ridley fumble thing is really a problem – leading to the loss last night
* Teams are literally tackling the ball now when he carries
* Vereen is a difference maker
* Another penalty on Mankins – he’s never recovered from injury last year
* Amazing effort by Gronk on TD

4. Defense:

* At the end of the game – No Mayo, Wilfork, Kelley, Gregory, Denard, Talib
* I know he’s tough but you can’t let NCAA cheater run for first downs
* Fletcher linebacker Newton QB
* Patriots blitzing from secondary was terribly mistimed all night
* Talib’s worst game as a Patriot and completely out of control
* Amazing effort by Chandler on a tackle of Newton

5. Misc:

* I would have used the timeouts before the two minute warning
* Marcus Cannon should be fined for his Ken Simms leg whip
* Gruden and Tirico – A+

6. Kraft Sighting:

10:38 of the 4th quarter

7. Stats:

* Plays for Patriots Drives: 9 / 14 / 9 / 8 / 9 / 9 /11
* From ESPN – early in the 4th quarter the two QB’s combined to go 16-16 in the second half
* 3 losses by a combined 14 points

8. Old School:

Cam Newton’s father wasn’t invited to Downtown Athletic Club because of pimping out his son to colleges

9. Just a Little Bit Outside:

Do you have to be loud and obnoxious if your name is Steven Smith

10. Randomocity:

* Losing is a disease……

  1. Only 1 of the following has to apply for the play to be pass interference … I think the 3 out of 4 do.

    •Contact by a defender who is not playing the ball
    •Playing through the back of a receiver in an attempt to make play on ball
    •Grabbing receiver arms in such a manner that restricts his opportunity to catch a pass
    •Extending arm cross body of receiver thus restricting his ability to catch a pass, regardless of whether a defender is playing the ball

    The 3rd and 7 scramble and escape by Newton was huge play in that game.

    REPLY – MPC – it was with out question a bad call or non call or gutless flag pick up
