Connelly’s Top Ten: Lucic Causes Me to Throw Up on Dean Wormer

* I have said for five years to trade Milan Lucic but they hang onto him because he hits an occasional guy, floats around the ice and scores some empty netters. One minute into the game he fanned in front of the net with a chance to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead. Twenty of 21 games have been won by the team that scores first and he missed. Lucic then fans again in the first period right off a perfect face off win and misses a wide open net in the second period. Then is in the crease in the third and misses the puck. Keep flexing your muscles tough guy.

* Please stop dragging the puck for a better spot – shoot – even Eriksson held onto the puck on the cross bar shot
* Krejci can’t tell Pierre to put him down for a goal because he is ready to explode and then get shut out (Larry Bird he’s not)
* Somebody tell me what Marchand has done in this series – should have sat him two games ago
* Campbell three straight games without a shot – doesn’t a puck go off your head once toward the net at least
* Eriksson MINUS 3

* 1st goal Miller again not strong on the puck – ugh
* 2nd goal Rask has to come out – ugh
* 3rd goal Krejci destroyed on that faceoff
* 4th goal Bartkowski in yet another turnover

* Hungrier team shown in their block shots, hammering at Rask and more physical play
* Game was over virtually and then Desharnais pitch forks Marchand and then Markov rips Chara’s feet out from him
* Habs are 25-1-1 when Pacioretty scores

* Bergeron gets punched in the head by Subban and looks at him like “Hey I’m Mr. Selke winner – I’m a lover not a fighter.” F that punch him back in the face
* Habs knocking Bruins down all over the ice with no consequences
* Pacioretty, Gionta and Vanek slashing at Rask and no consequences
* Habs 4th line killing B’s 4th line
* Thornton wasn’t squirting water in Game 6
* I saw some Bruins hearing footsteps the HABS were so dominant in the checking game – Weiss, Murray, Prust (7 hits), Bournival (6 hits)
* Bruins 4th line should have been flying the last five minutes sending messages – but nothing

* How does Hamilton get a penalty for the little scrum at the end of the first period – that happens a 100 times a game?
* They let that game get out of control at the end

* Great but painful piece in SI on Too Many Men – 9 Habs on that team made it into the Hall of Fame
* At the end of the game with the game over 4-0 and the Habs on the power play they kept trying to score when they could have dribbled the clock out or take a knee – punks
* Bruins looked like they surrendered with eight minutes left
* Mayor Menino would like to apologize to the world for the beer cups Montreal fans threw on the ice
* On the bench minor why does Clode throw Thornton in the box instead of letting him go out for the final shift and do we he gets paid to do
* Not happy with the NHL commercial in which the Bruin women and Flyer women are on the treadmills against each other and the Bruins girl falls first
* Remember the scene in Fast Times at Ridgemont High when they told Forest Whittaker the rival football team destroyed his Trans Am and he went off – better think of something Clode

* Krejci is reminding me of Mo Vaughn’s 1995 series versus Cleveland –  0-for-14 with 7 Ks

* Ninth Game 7 between the two – Habs 5-3

  1. Good article but not sure I understand the desire to trade Lucic. He’s the most feared guy in the league and the size/skill combination is a very rare thing. He scores goals, fights, and imposes his will on his opponents in the corner. Yeah he can be frustrating at times when he doesn’t bury the goals, but this is not a guy we want on any team but the Bruins.

    REPLY – MPC – I can tell you he was tough during the handshake last night

  2. I have to say I’m with Tim on this one. Lucic is one of the most consistently dominant players on this team. He’s not to blame for the fact that his line has been playing horrible, that starts with the center Krejci. Sure he missed a couple of open nets in game 6 but I wouldn’t be surprised if the real Lucic shows up for game 7.

    REPLY – MPC – Would you like to rethink?
