Celtics center Vitor Faverani has been arrested on DUI charges in Spain, according to reports.
Faverani is accused of running a red light and crashing his BMW into a bus. No one was injured in the collision.
The 6-foot-11, 260-pound Brazilian blew a 0.18 blood alcohol content (above Spain’s legal limit of 0.06), police said.
Under Spanish law, Faverani faces a fine, community service and/or 3-6 months behind bars, in addition to losing his license for 1-4 years.
The center signed a 3-year, $6.2 million contract last summer. While he is under contract this year, his $2.2 million salary for the 2015-2016 season is not guaranteed.
