The Boston Celtics, the most-storied franchise in NBA history, won the NBA Championship for the first time since 1986, defeating the rival Los Angeles Lakers 4-2. After recovering from a 24-win season in 2006-2007, the 2007-2008 Celtics earned 66 wins, and 16 more through the playoffs on the way to their 17th NBA Championship.


Boston Throws Parade for NBA Champs

That really has a nice ring to it…The Boston Celtics: NBA Champions.

Since 2001, the city of Boston has thrown six parades (for three Patriots Super Bowl wins, two Red Sox World Series wins, and this Celtics NBA Finals win). This parade was a little different because the Celtics roster is smaller (15 or so) than the Red Sox or Patriots, but the Celtics did what they could to extend it by placing each member of the Big Three in separate duck boats.

Kevin Garnett looked ridiculous decked out in NBA memorabilia, including a vitange hat and a huge cigar in his mouth to honor Red Auerbach. He was also clutching the Larry O’Brien trophy during the entire parade.
