Today on the SoB podcast I had Rich Shertenlieb from the Toucher & Rich show on. Rich talked about his road to sports radio, getting athletes to participate in his skits, the budding rivalry with WEEI, and much more!

8:00 – 12:30 - Rich tells me about his career from his experiences being in a band to his work on the Kidd Kraddick show all the way to his current role at The Sports Hub.

12:30 – 18:40 - We dive into the logic behind Rich’s renowned skits, his mantra of never being complacent, and not being afraid to fail.

18:40 – 21:20 - Rich talks about integrating athletes into his comedy.

21:20 – 28:00 - What the biggest difference in the WBCN version and Sports Hub version of Toucher & Rich is. Also his pensiveness towards getting into sports talk radio, because of perceived negativity.

28:00 – 34:00 – Rich gives his feeling on the difference between professional rivalries and personal rivalries. We also talk about Comcast Sports Net’s programming feats.

34:00 – 38:00 – I ask Rich his feelings about WEEI’s cavalier attitude in the beginning of the radio wars. We talk about the station’s decision-making.
